In his most recent game for Slovenia, Manchester United attacker Benjamin Sesko left a lasting impression that will undoubtedly please club manager Ruben Amorim.
Slovenia earned a 2-2 draw after shocking Sweden with a late equalizer.
Sweden took the lead thanks to a goal from Anthony Elanga, a former member of the United academy, but Sandi Lovric equalized just after halftime.
With a deft 12-yard finish, midfielder Yasin Ayari gave Sweden the lead again, but Slovenia responded with a decisive equalizer in the 91st minute.
Sesko played the entire game and put on a respectable display against a national squad with a higher ranking.
The hosts only had 40% of the ball, and he completed 15 of 19 passes. He won three of his seven duels and drew two fouls.
Late in the game, he chased down a long ball and managed to elude two defenders who attempted to pull him out of the play. It was his most memorable moment.
The 22-year-old displayed incredible strength and poise by controlling the ball with his knee before deflecting a deft header into Zan Vipotnik’s path, who scored the thrilling equalizer.
Amorim will be quite happy with this effort because it demonstrated that his striker can mix deft link-up play with physical domination.
Despite having all the necessary skills to succeed as a number nine, Rasmus Hojlund was too easily intimidated by Premier League defenders last season.
Sesko will give his colleagues the foundation they need to succeed in the last third if he can duplicate this combination of strength and awareness at Old Trafford.
The teenage striker’s focus will now shift to scoring goals when Slovenia visits Switzerland on September 8.
