Manchester United have reportedly been handed a massive boost in pursuing a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. Ruben Amorim would like to refresh his options in goal, though he acknowledges that other positions will have to take priority at this rebuild stage.
It is understood United are more likely to sign a replacement for back-up option Altay Bayindir, rather than push for a first-choice to replace Andre Onana. It doesn’t mean they won’t consider their options, though, and they could be tempted to change those plans if the right opportunity arises.
Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez could be the exception. Amorim has a preference to sign Premier League-proven players and might find it hard to resist an offer for the Argentine shot-stopper if he is available for transfer this summer. It has even been suggested Martinez has made it clear he is open to an Old Trafford move as he looks for the next step in his career.
