Terms agreed – Man Utd close in on signing £70million star – Journalist

Manchester United have a number of positions to reinforce in the current squad but it looks like they have turned all their focus to the attack for the moment. The Red Devils have already wrapped up the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

The club continue to be linked with other attackers and one name that has been doing the rounds, quite significantly, in recent weeks is that of Brentford star Bryan Mbuemo. Man Utd want the Cameroonian at Old Trafford.

While personal terms with the player has never been an issue, the two clubs have been a fair way apart in terms of valuations. Brentford obviously want to make as much money as possible from the sale of their talisman and Man Utd want to bring it down as much as they can.

Now, as per French journalist Rud Galeti, Man Utd are closing in on signing the talented attacker and the two clubs are only a few millions apart from reaching an agreement on a fixed fee. Mbuemo only wants the Red Devils and has turned down interest from other clubs.

For much of his time at the GTech stadium, Mbuemo played as a second fiddle to Ivan Toney, who was undoubtedly the star for Brentford. However, since the Englishman left the club, the Cameroonian has taken the mantle as the talisman.

Mbuemo is coming off a brilliant season with the London club but now might be the best time to jump ship, especially with manager Thomas Frank moving to Tottenham Hotspur. The 25-year-old has a contract with Brentford until 2026.

Valued at £70million by Brentford, Mbeumo has played 42 games across all competitions, scoring 20 goals and providing 9 assists. He would be able to add a lot of quality to the front line in Ruben Amorim’s team.

It remains to be seen if Man Utd and the London club are able to reach an agreement on a potential transfer and if it happens, it would be yet another step in the right direction for Ruben Amorim’s side. Let’s wait and see how things play out in the coming weeks.
