According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, Bayern Munich submitted an opening offer late last week that was rejected by the Cottagers. Bayern looked to have wrapped up the signing of Palhinha last summer however the deal fell through at the final hurdle with the Bavarians clearly intent on ensuring that does not happen again.
Talks are said to be ongoing with work being done to reach an agreement over the coming days. Palhinha and Bayern will be hoping that all is sorted before the start of the European championships with Portugal kicking off their campaign on Tuesday, June 18 against Czech Republic and Palhinha keen to impress.
"I don't know if it's a closed door or not, everything in football is very uncertain," he said recently on the topic of his future. "I can't say it's a closed or open door. I can't put myself in a position like that either.
