Manchester United secured their place in the Europa League final following a commanding 7-1 aggregate victory over Athletic Bilbao. The Red Devils established a solid 3-0 advantage from the first leg at San Mames.

Although Athletic posed a brief threat with an early goal at Old Trafford yesterday, United responded with a late surge. Mason Mount netted two goals for the Red Devils, while Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund also contributed to the scoreline in a 4-1 triumph.

Mount was particularly noteworthy for his impressive performance after coming off the bench, and Casemiro delivered another outstanding all-around display.

While Bruno Fernandes did not score, he provided an excellent cross from a free-kick that led to Casemiro’s goal, making it 2-1. Shortly after the match, Fernandes took to Instagram to share his delight.

He particularly praised Mount for his fabulous attacking performance off the bench.

Fernandes posted: “Reds we are going to Bilbao. Mason Mount bend it like becks. You deserve this moment kid.”

There were plenty of responses. Former United striker Odion Ighalo praised Fernandes for his display.

The Nigerian ace replied: ‘My captain, what a player’.

Amad described Fernandes as ‘Always the best’.

Joshua Zirkzee added that ‘there will be thousands’ of fans at San Mames for the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur on May 21.

Fernandes has demonstrated exceptional performance in recent months. His display against Athletic yesterday was outstanding, as he triumphed in an impressive 11 ground and aerial duels. The Portuguese midfielder completed 39 passes, including six long balls and two successful crosses.

Additionally, he executed four tackles and drew four fouls from the opposing team. There have been unexpected discussions regarding the interest of Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal in acquiring him this summer.

In our opinion, Manchester United should not consider letting go of this playmaker, irrespective of the financial offers presented. He is undoubtedly the club’s most creative player by a significant margin. The Red Devils must focus on constructing their squad around their influential captain.

Securing Champions League qualification by winning the Europa League would be a substantial advantage. While United can still attract top-tier talent without European competition, qualifying for the Champions League would serve as an additional motivation to persuade players like Viktor Gyokeres.
