According to Sky Sports News, Manchester United is ‘very close’ to acquiring Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap this summer.
The club is actively seeking a new forward following disappointing performances from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee this season. Additionally, Ruben Amorim aims to enhance the squad after a lackluster performance since his transfer from Sporting CP.
Delap has emerged as the club’s primary target for the summer transfer window; however, there is significant competition for his signature, particularly from Chelsea and Newcastle United. Nevertheless, Manchester United is now optimistic about finalizing the deal.
Man Utd ‘Very Close’ to Delap Deal
As the Reds prepare for the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur next week, they are on the brink of achieving Champions League qualification, despite a disappointing Premier League season that has left them in 16th place with two matches left to play.
During a live broadcast on Sky Sports News, reporter Kaveh Solhekol provided significant insights regarding the future of the 22-year-old striker.
“That release clause is £30m because Ipswich have been relegated. At the moment, what we are hearing this afternoon is that Manchester United are in pole position to sign him. One source has gone as far as telling us that he believes the deal is very close and the player would be happy to move to Manchester United even though United aren’t having a great season. He still feels United are a big, big club.”
