United prepare £42m raid for “exceptional” marksman after INEOS tells Amorim to forget about Gyokeres – report

Manchester United has garnered an encouraging reply following their inquiry regarding Fiorentina forward Moise Kean, as the Italian international is reportedly receptive to a return to the Premier League.

Kean, 25, has had the most successful season of his career with La Viola after transferring from Juventus last summer. Previously, the striker faced a challenging stint in England, having made a £25 million transfer to Everton in 2019, where he managed to score only two league goals in 32 appearances before returning to Turin.

The development of center-forwards is seldom straightforward. Young players frequently find it challenging to adjust to this role, with numerous instances of relatively late bloomers in Europe, such as Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona and Jamie Vardy of Leicester City, who is closer to home.

Kean has netted 17 goals and assisted three times in 30 league matches for Fiorentina this season, with only Mateo Retegui of Atalanta surpassing him in Serie A. The 25-year-old possesses the impressive combination of size and speed that initially marked him as a promising talent at Juventus, and he has shown enhancements in his link-up play. This season could potentially be the breakthrough year that his early potential suggested.

Although the transition from Serie A to the Premier League—a significantly more physical league—might diminish some of Kean’s advantages in Italy, his contract situation at the Artemio Franchi Stadium presents an enticing opportunity for interested clubs.

From July 1 to July 15, a €50 million (£42m) release clause will be activated in Kean’s contract. In comparison to the fees being discussed for other strikers in Europe this summer, including Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, and Benjamin Sesko, this represents a considerably more economical option. It is this lower price that has likely sparked United’s growing interest in the Italian international.

According to reporter Sacha Tavolieri, as reported by Give Me Sport, Kean is reportedly willing to consider a return to the Premier League, with numerous clubs interested in his services. Manchester United has allegedly reached out to Kean’s representatives in recent weeks, viewing him as a viable alternative to Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres has gained recognition as one of Europe’s top forwards under Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP, prior to Amorim’s transition to United in November. Given the challenges Amorim has faced with his current forward lineup since his arrival in Manchester, reuniting with Gyokeres would likely be an appealing option.

However, the report indicates that Arsenal is currently at the forefront of the competition for the Swedish international, prompting United to shift their focus to other potential targets, including Kean.

Additionally, several clubs in England have shown interest in the Fiorentina striker, indicating that any attempt to acquire Kean will require a prompt and assertive approach to secure the 25-year-old’s signature once his release clause becomes active on July 1.
