United plotting move for monstrous 23-yo star, player has hinted he’d snub PSG for Red Devils – report

Lucas Chevalier, a target for Manchester United, seems eager to transition to the Premier League. Ruben Amorim opted to rest Andre Onana during the match against West Ham United, providing Altay Bayındır with a rare chance to showcase his skills; however, the Turkish goalkeeper’s performance was subpar in the 2-0 loss to the Hammers.

There has been considerable discussion regarding Onana’s notable errors, indicating that the goalkeeping position may pose a significant challenge for United in the forthcoming summer transfer window.

As reported by Foot Mercato (via Sport Witness), United has expressed interest in LOSC Lille’s first-choice goalkeeper, Chevalier. The 23-year-old has gained recognition as one of Europe’s most promising goalkeepers, noted for his quick reflexes, composure, and courageous shot-stopping technique.

He is also being considered as a potential successor to Mike Maignan for the role of France’s primary goalkeeper. The French media outlet further mentions Paris Saint-Germain as a potential suitor; however, the Ligue 1 champions have reportedly diminished their interest due to Gianluigi Donnarumma’s outstanding performances, particularly in the Champions League.

It is believed that United may pursue Chevalier this summer, and he has recently expressed his aspiration to join the Premier League.

“The Premier League? It’s a league that makes you dream, the most attractive,” he said at the UNFP award ceremony.

“When you see Tottenham, Manchester United struggling with crazy players, you can see the level a bit. I have a two-year contract, and you know the president [laughs]. I haven’t had any specific offers from this country, but it makes you think.”

Onana is expected to rejoin Amorim’s starting lineup for the Europa League final at the end of May; however, there are significant uncertainties regarding his capacity to continue as the first-choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford for the upcoming season.

The former Inter Milan player has garnered interest from Saudi Arabia, and if he departs, Chevalier could emerge as a highly promising alternative.
