UEFA have confirmed their match official appointment for the Europa League final between Tottenham and Manchester United.
The winner of the May 21 match between Spurs and United will advance to the Champions League the following season.
Spurs have previously won the competition twice, in 1972 and 1984, when it was known as the UEFA Cup.
Under Jose Mourinho, United, on the other hand, won the Europa League in 2017.
Felix Zwayer, a German referee, has been named the official for the final, according to UEFA.
Italian official Maurizio Mariani will be the fourth official, and fellow German officials Christian Dietz and Robert Kempter will serve as his assistants.
Over his career, Zwayer has officiated four games for United, with the Manchester team winning two and drawing two of those games.
Spurs, on the other hand, have lost both of the games that the German referee has officiated and are winless overall.
Despite being involved in controversy at several points during his career, UEFA considers him to be one of their top officials.
After it was discovered that Zwayer had received a £250 payment from fellow referee Robert Hoyzer, he was banned for six months in 2005 for his involvement in a match-fixing incident.
Jude Bellingham brought up his ban following a controversial ruling he made during Borussia Dortmund’s 2021 Bundesliga loss to Bayern Munich.
UEFA fined the England midfielder €40,000 for “unsportsmanlike conduct” after he criticized Zwayer’s choice to give Bayern a penalty for defender Mats Hummels’ handball: “You give a referee that has match-fixed before the biggest game in Germany, what do you expect?”
Bellingham played in England’s Euro 2024 semi-final match against the Netherlands, which Zwayer was later assigned to coach.
Last Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final was his most recent game as manager of an English team.
