Supercomputer predicts Europa League winner between Tottenham and Man United

Opta’s supercomputer has now predicted who will win the Europa League final between Tottenham Hotspur and Man United on May 21 in Bilbao.

Considering Tottenham Hotspur’s disappointing domestic performance this season, it is surprising that the Lilywhites have reached a European final.

They now face Manchester United, another English team, in their quest to end a nearly twenty-year trophy drought. The Red Devils have also faced challenges in the domestic league, currently positioned just above Spurs in 15th place.

Opta predict close Tottenham vs Manchester United final

As the all-English final is scheduled for May 21st in Bilbao, Opta’s supercomputer has analyzed the data. According to Opta, their forecasts made two weeks prior to the 2025 Europa League final, featuring Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao, favor the Red Devils.

The supercomputer predicts that Manchester United has a 50.7% chance of securing the trophy in its 10,000 simulations, while Tottenham Hotspur stands at 49.3%.

Spurs’ head-to-head advantage over Man United and hopes for silverware

The Opta model’s prediction indicates a very close match, implying that the final will likely be fiercely contested. Analyzing their head-to-head results this season, Tottenham has triumphed in all three meetings against Manchester United, including a victory in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

While United possesses a rich European history, as highlighted by many of their former greats, the similarity in performance between the two teams this season makes it challenging to predict the outcome of the final.

The expectation is that Tottenham will deliver another professional and composed performance, as they have consistently done throughout their European campaign, which could lead them to victory.
