Man Utd without six players vs Athletic Bilbao after Ruben Amorim rules out trio

Manchester United Injury Update: De Ligt Out, Heaven Nearing Return as Red Devils Close in on Europa League Final

Manchester United are firm favourites to reach the Europa League final on May 21, as they take a commanding 3-0 lead into the second leg of their semi-final clash with Athletic Club at Old Trafford.

The Spanish side will be without key players Nico Williams, Inaki Williams, and Oihan Sancet, significantly weakening their attacking threat. Meanwhile, United manager Ruben Amorim has provided a key fitness update ahead of the tie.

De Ligt Sidelined for Two Matches

Matthijs de Ligt has been ruled out after sustaining a knock during United’s recent game against Brentford. While the issue isn’t serious, Amorim confirmed the Dutch defender will miss both the Europa League clash and Sunday’s Premier League fixture against West Ham United.

“It is not a big issue [for De Ligt]. That is a good thing,” Amorim told reporters. “He cannot play tomorrow and he’ll not play on Sunday, but then we’ll check day-by-day.”

Youngsters Still Out

Academy talents Ayden Heaven and Toby Collyer are also unavailable. Heaven has resumed light individual training and could return before the end of the season, while Collyer remains sidelined.

“The rest, Ayden doesn’t recover. Toby is not available,” added Amorim.

With a depleted Athletic side visiting and a strong home advantage, United are well positioned to seal their place in the final — and edge closer to their first European trophy since 2017.
