Manchester United has reestablished communication regarding the potential acquisition of Atalanta midfielder Ederson this summer, as reported by journalist Alfredo Pedulla. The Red Devils are said to still be interested in the Brazilian international ahead of the upcoming transfer window, nearly a year after being strongly linked to a transfer for the 25-year-old.
Although there were indications of a possible €50 million agreement last summer, Pedulla asserts that United will now need to offer more than that to secure the ‘extraordinary’ midfielder. Ederson, who transferred to Atalanta from Salernitana in 2022, has just over two years left on his contract, which is valid until June 2027.
Man Utd Considering Move for Ederson
Manchester United reportedly contemplated acquiring Ederson prior to deciding to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, which temporarily alleviated their midfield issues.
However, a year later, the Red Devils are expecting further changes in their midfield, as Christian Eriksen is poised to leave on a free transfer and Casemiro is approaching the final year of his contract. Consequently, United is evaluating their options in the transfer market while also pursuing Matheus Cunha, with Ederson considered a potential target following another impressive season in Italy.
The Brazilian, lauded as ‘one of the best players in Serie A’, has delivered outstanding performances for Atalanta this season, netting five goals and providing two assists in 38 matches across all competitions. His efforts have significantly contributed to the Bergamo-based club’s rise to third place in Serie A with two matches left, marking their best league finish in four years.
