Man Utd in direct ‘talks’ with world’s ‘best striker’ in spectacular £64m deal

Manchester United has initiated discussions with Victor Osimhen in an effort to persuade him to transfer to Old Trafford, as reported, while Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek addresses rumors regarding the striker’s future.

One of the key positions that Manchester United aims to enhance during the summer transfer window is the attacking front. Rasmus Hojlund has yet to demonstrate consistent goal-scoring ability, and Joshua Zirkzee does not fit the profile of a traditional number nine.

Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, is eager to acquire a new striker this summer, with Victor Osimhen being one of the players under consideration. According to TEAMtalk’s Italian football correspondent, Rudy Galetti, Manchester United has expressed a serious interest in Osimhen.

The Nigerian international is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli until the season concludes and has a release clause of €75 million (£64 million, $85 million) in his contract with the Serie A club. Sources have informed TEAMtalk that for Manchester United to secure Osimhen’s signing this summer, they must qualify for the Champions League.

Amorim’s team has a strong opportunity to advance to the Europa League final this season, having won the first leg of the semi-final against Athletic Bilbao 3-0 away in Spain last week.

The Premier League club is reported to have prioritized the Nigerian striker to enhance their squad for the upcoming season. The Italian media has highlighted Juventus’s interest in Osimhen, who has netted 33 goals and provided eight assists in 37 matches for Galatasaray this season, earning the title of a ‘world-class striker’ from former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

Nevertheless, it is Manchester United that has taken decisive action for Osimhen, who was referred to as ‘the best striker in the world’ by his fellow Nigerian, Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede, during an interview with Eagle 7 Sports Radio this week.

What has been said about Victor Osimhen’s future

It is evident that Osimhen’s prospects at Napoli are bleak. Napoli’s head coach, Antonio Conte, believed that the team would not suffer in his absence when he approved the striker’s loan departure last summer.

Currently, Napoli holds a three-point lead at the top of the Serie A standings with only three matches left to play. According to TEAMtalk, Galatasaray is unable to meet the release clause stipulated in Osimhen’s contract and will require Napoli to reduce the fee in order to finalize a transfer.

Galatasaray president Ozbek spoke about Osimhen’s future this week and noted, as quoted on beIN SPORTS: “85 million people in Turkiye come to me with the same question.

“We are in a race right now, the race in football is not over. Transfers are at the beginning of June.

“Nobody should think about who to buy or sell. We are focused on the field. We have 5 matches ahead of us. We are working to win all 5 matches and make our fans happy.

“There is no transfer on our agenda right now. We will share our thoughts when the time comes.”

Former Turkish referee Ahmet Cakar does not think that Osimhen will be at Galatasaray next season.

Cakar told the Turkish media: “In my opinion, Osimhen is one of the best foreigners in Galatasaray’s history.

“He is very young and has a lot of talent. Of course, it is his dream and right to go to a big team from the best leagues in the world.

“I don’t think he can stay at Galatasaray. This has nothing to do with money or wealth. So what happens when Osimhen leaves?”

Latest Man Utd news: Arsenal offer, Bayern Munich threat

According to TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, Rudy Galetti, Manchester United may lose the opportunity to acquire a premier defender who is being pursued by Bayern Munich.

Sunderland midfielder Chris Rigg has addressed rumors regarding Manchester United’s interest in him this summer. Additionally, reports indicate that Arsenal has submitted a bid for a forward that Manchester United is also interested in.
