Manchester United is willing to transfer the highly sought-after winger Antony for a surprisingly low fee, according to reports. Antony has undergone a remarkable transformation since his loan to Real Betis during the winter transfer window.
Once viewed as Erik ten Hag’s most significant transfer error, the Brazilian was sent to Seville to gain more playing time. In an impressive turnaround, Antony has become Betis’ top attacker and a fan favorite at Benito Villamarín Stadium. The 25-year-old has scored an impressive eight goals and provided five assists in just 21 appearances under Manuel Pellegrini, whereas he achieved the same number of assists at United over 96 matches.
Recently, Antony played a crucial role in helping Betis reach the Europa Conference League final with a spectacular first-half free kick against Fiorentina.
Nevertheless, the Brazilian international is not anticipated to be part of Ruben Amorim’s plans for the next season, prompting United to consider parting ways with him this summer. As reported by Football Insider, Betis is “desperate” to keep Antony, but their financial situation may lead them to propose an extension of his loan rather than a permanent transfer.
The report indicates that the Premier League club is “well aware they cannot recover the full £86 million fee paid to Ajax” for him in 2022. However, it has been widely reported that United is seeking a fee around £40 million for their in-form player. Given Antony’s consistent outstanding performances in Spain, it seems unlikely that the Red Devils would accept a £20 million offer for him, so this claim should be viewed with skepticism.
Additionally, La Liga powerhouse Atletico Madrid is reportedly considering a summer bid for the right-winger. Surprisingly, it is suggested that United is willing to sell Antony for between £20 million and £30 million.
