Football news: Viktor Gyokeres offer submitted as Man Utd in ‘advanced talks’ for star

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are actively seeking to strengthen their attacking options, with the Gunners pursuing Viktor Gyokeres.

Amidst a flurry of rumors, Mirror Football compiles the most recent Premier League transfer updates in anticipation of the weekend’s matches.

Gunners submit Gyokeres offer

Arsenal has proposed a contract to Viktor Gyokeres valued at £7 million annually after tax, marking a significant step towards acquiring the striker. The Swedish player netted 43 goals last season, contributing to Sporting Lisbon’s victory in the Primeira Liga.

This season, he has surpassed that achievement with 52 goals, as Sporting only needs to match Benfica’s outcome this weekend to clinch a second consecutive title. However, Gyokeres is unlikely to remain for a third attempt at the Portuguese championship.

Arsenal is eager to secure his services, with A Bola indicating that they have extended a lucrative £7 million salary offer, which the striker is inclined to accept. It is reported that the Gunners will delay making a formal bid to Sporting until after the Taca de Portugal final on May 25.

Man Utd in advanced talks

Manchester United is reportedly engaged in advanced negotiations to acquire Wolves forward Matheus Cunha. Both the player and the club remain optimistic about the potential transfer and are currently finalizing an agreement.
The Brazilian striker has attracted significant transfer interest following a standout season, and United intends to submit a formal offer. Wolves are expected to insist that any interested party triggers Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause.

Beukema confirms Slot talks

Samuel Beukema, a defender for Bologna, has disclosed that he engaged in transfer discussions with Arne Slot earlier in his career, coinciding with renewed interest from Liverpool. The Dutch player was close to joining the centre-back position while he was at Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Beukema said: “My uncle was even more excited than me! It was a really good conversation and he showed me things that I hadn’t thought of before.

“You could see he approached football differently to other managers and I had a really good feeling – and so did my uncle. He told me to go there but I said, ‘let’s wait’.”
