Boost for Amorim: Man Utd and INEOS believe they will sign £30m “warrior” with Wilcox pushing

Despite sitting as low as 16th in the Premier League, Manchester United and INEOS reportedly have full belief that they will win the race to sign one particular attacking reinforcement this summer.

Man Utd’s disastrous season

Upon Ruben Amorim’s appointment as Erik ten Hag’s successor in November, Manchester United was a team grappling to establish itself in the competition for European football. At that moment, it appeared that the situation could not deteriorate further, as many perceived this to be the Red Devils at their nadir.

However, six months later, United has faced a harsh awakening. Amorim’s team not only finds itself far from European qualification but is also precariously positioned just two spots above the relegation zone with two matches remaining. They have yet to achieve the 40-point threshold, typically regarded as the benchmark for safety, and United is arguably fortunate that Southampton, Leicester City, and Ipswich Town have already confirmed their relegation.

Admitting his embarrassment over his side’s league position after suffering a 2-0 loss at the hands of West Ham United on Sunday, Amorim told reporters: “How a manager of Manchester United is supposed to feel in that position – embarrassed, and it’s hard to accept.

“I think everybody has to think seriously about a lot of things here. Everybody is thinking about the final. The final is not an issue in this moment in our club. We have bigger things to think and we have to change a lot of things in the end of the season.”

With plenty of work to do whether they win the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur or not, it looks as though Manchester United could start by reinforcing their frontline.

Man Utd confident that they’ll sign £30m Delap

As reported by The Boot Room, Manchester United is optimistic about securing the signing of Liam Delap ahead of Chelsea this summer. Technical director Jason Wilcox is actively working to finalize the deal, which would be a significant advantage for both Amorim and the Red Devils.

Delap, a former Manchester City player, would certainly attract attention, but his acquisition is a necessary step for the Red Devils following his impressive performance at Ipswich Town. With a release clause set at just £30 million due to Ipswich’s relegation, United stands to gain a valuable asset.

U23 scout Antonio Mango has commended Delap for his ‘warrior-like’ mentality, presenting him with a pivotal choice this summer. Unlike previous seasons, playing time would not pose a challenge at a prestigious club like Manchester United, and he is likely to enhance Amorim’s current roster.

However, after a challenging season, the Red Devils may find it increasingly difficult to attract new talent this summer.
