Amorim says yes to big Man Utd move for classy midfielder; two other targets assessed

According to TEAMtalk, Ruben Amorim has his sights set on a Premier League player valued at £80 million, and Manchester United is considering a number of midfield targets for the summer transfer window.

Christian Eriksen’s contract with the Red Devils is slated to expire at the end of June, thus he will be leaving Old Trafford as a free agent in the upcoming weeks.

According to sources, Amorim’s team is looking to add at least one new central midfield player this summer, and we can disclose who is at the top of their shortlist.

Adam Wharton, a star for Crystal Palace, has been discussed internally by Manchester United, as TEAMtalk reported on April 22.

The promising 21-year-old has been immensely outstanding since his transfer to Selhurst Park from Blackburn Rovers in the winter of 2024.

We understand that Amorim himself is a major admirer of Wharton and the once-capped England international has been on Man Utd’s radar for months. The competition is fierce, though, with top European teams like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle also interested.

Since Wharton’s contract expires in 2029, Palace can demand a high price; some estimate that signing the young player this summer could cost more than £80 million.

Man Utd also keen on Serie A star; Newcastle ace discussed

Ederson, a midfielder for Atalanta, is another name high on Manchester United’s list. As TEAMtalk originally reported on November 27, the Red Devils’ recruitment chiefs have been keeping an eye on him for more than six months.

The outcome of Atalanta’s match against Roma tonight may have a significant impact on the 25-year-old’s future. The Italian team may begin talking about Ederson’s potential departure as soon as they mathematically qualified for the Champions League.

According to TEAMtalk, Atalanta is thinking of selling the Brazilian international this summer for €60 million (£50.5 million). With Manchester United, Liverpool, and City all keeping a close eye on him, he seems amenable to a move to the Premier League.

Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle has also been explored by Manchester United, as was previously reported, but it will be extremely difficult to recruit him given that the Magpies are on the rise and could qualify for the Champions League, and Guimaraes has no immediate plans to move.

Man Utd is willing to look into additional options that fit the profile Amorim wants for his 3-4-3 / 3-4-2-1 system if the primary midfield targets prove to be too challenging to sign.
