BREAKING NEWS: “We’ve had some positive updates, and a few players are recovering quicker than expected. There’s still work to be done, but we’re optimistic about having key players back very soon.” Michael Carrick has shared a MAJOR injury update ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Leeds, providing a huge boost in their push for a top-four finish

CARRICK’S KITCHEN SINK: Man Utd Handed Triple Injury Boost Ahead of Leeds Clash

Manchester United interim boss Michael Carrick has delivered the news every fan has been waiting for. After nearly a month without a game, the Red Devils are set to welcome back several heavy hitters for the upcoming “Roses Derby” at Old Trafford a match that could define the race for the Champions League.

“The Butcher” is Back

The biggest update concerns Lisandro Martinez. The Argentine defender hasn’t featured since February, but Carrick confirmed that the World Cup winner is “a lot closer” and expected to lead the line against Leeds.

“We’ve had some positive updates, and a few players are recovering quicker than expected,” Carrick told reporters. “Lisandro is getting there I think he’ll be alright for this one. Having that leadership back in the squad is vital for the run-in.”

With Harry Maguire currently facing a suspension following his red card against Bournemouth, Martinez’s return couldn’t be more perfectly timed for a United defense that has looked shaky in recent weeks.

The “Precautionary” Duo: Mbeumo & Sesko

United fans were sweating over the international break after both Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko withdrew from their national squads. However, Carrick has quelled those fears:

Bryan Mbeumo: The forward’s withdrawal from Cameroon duty was purely “precautionary” following a minor knock. He is expected to start.

Benjamin Sesko: Having scored 8 goals in his last 11 games, the Slovenian striker skipped international duty to “fully recover” from a lingering niggle and is 100% in contention.

Noussair Mazraoui: After missing the Bournemouth trip through illness, the fullback played 90 minutes for Morocco and is ready to return to the starting XI.

The Bitter Pill: De Ligt Sidelined

It’s not all good news, however. Carrick admitted that Matthijs de Ligt’s battle with a persistent back injury is ongoing. Reports suggest the Dutchman could be out for the remainder of the season, leaving a massive hole in the squad that Martinez and Leny Yoro will need to fill.

The Verdict: Is the Top 4 Within Reach?

With 22 points from a possible 27 since Carrick took over from Ruben Amorim, United have transformed from 15th-place strugglers into genuine European contenders. With the squad returning to full strength (minus De Ligt), the pressure is on Aston Villa and Chelsea to keep pace.
