INJURY ALERT: Patrick Dorgu’s Hamstring Setback!
Manchester United’s medical department released a statement this morning confirming that Patrick Dorgu has returned to Manchester after a “further medical assessment” revealed a hamstring strain.
Dorgu, who has been a standout performer since his January move, was expected to be a key part of Denmark’s final preparations for the 2026 World Cup. Instead, he joins a growing list of United defenders currently working in the rehabilitation gym at Carrington.
The Carrington “Hamstring” Trend
Dorgu’s injury is a bitter blow for Michael Carrick, who is already managing a delicate defensive balancing act:
Patrick Dorgu: Hamstring strain (Expected out for 2–3 weeks).
Lisandro Martinez: Calf recovery (Aims to return for Leeds on April 13).
Matthijs de Ligt: Persistent back issue (Doubts remain over whether he will play again this season).
Luke Shaw: Managing minutes after his own long-term muscle struggles.
Double Withdrawal: Mbeumo and Šeško Also Sidelined
Dorgu isn’t the only one staying home. The club also confirmed that both Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško have been withdrawn from their respective national teams (Cameroon and Slovenia) as a “precautionary measure.”
Bryan Mbeumo: Withdrawn after feeling “tightness” during the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.
Benjamin Šeško: Recovering from a “minor fitness issue.” Slovenia boss Boštjan Cesar expressed his frustration, stating he “won’t be pushed around” by United, but ultimately agreed it was better for the striker to rest for the next 14 days.
THE IMPACT: Can United Survive the Leeds Clash?
The timing couldn’t be worse. With Harry Maguire suspended for the Roses Derby on April 13, Carrick was counting on a fully fit Dorgu and Martinez to stabilize the backline.
