BREAKING NEWS: “Victor Osimhen is the one” Nicky Butt urges Manchester United to make the BIG move despite Benjamin Sesko’s recent form! The former United star believes Sesko is still not ready and says Osimhen is the striker they MUST sign this summer His reasons here…

STRYKER DEBATE: Nicky Butt Urges Man Utd to Sign Victor Osimhen!

Is Benjamin Šeško the long-term answer at Old Trafford? According to 1999 Treble winner Nicky Butt, the answer is a resounding “not yet.”

Despite Šeško’s recent explosion in form netting 8 goals in his last 11 games since Michael Carrick took charge Butt believes the 22-year-old isn’t ready to lead the line if United return to the Champions League next season.

“The Same Mistake as Hojlund”

Speaking to Paddy Power this morning (March 30, 2026), Butt warned that United are repeating the mistakes of the past by putting too much pressure on unproven youngsters.

“Šeško has not quite worked. It’s the same mistake as Rasmus Højlund. A young, unproven striker, a lot of money, too much weight on his shoulders. He might be ready in two or three years, but not right now—and definitely not in the Champions League.”

Why Victor Osimhen is “The One”

Butt believes the solution is currently playing in Turkey. Victor Osimhen, who completed a permanent £65m move to Galatasaray last summer, is the man Butt wants to see in a red shirt.

Butt’s “Scouting Report” on Osimhen:

Gettable: Unlike targets like Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappé, Butt believes players in the Turkish Süper Lig are “attainable” for the right price.

The Full Package: “He’s powerful, quick, he can run in behind, he’s strong, has a good touch, and he’s great in the air,” Butt noted.

Immediate Impact: At 27, Osimhen is in his prime and has already scored 29 goals for Galatasaray this season, including 7 in the Champions League.

The Comparison: Sesko vs. Osimhen (2025/26)

Feature Benjamin Šeško Victor Osimhen
Age 22 27
League Goals 9 22
Experience Emerging Talent Proven Elite
Style Technical / Movement Power / Clinical
While Šeško has been a “Super Sub” sensation—scoring 5 goals in just 292 minutes under Carrick—Butt argues that United need a “Demi-God” figure who can dominate defenses for 90 minutes every week.
