Benjamin Sesko transfer saga takes stunning twist as star forward ‘chooses’ between Man Utd and Newcastle

The Benjamin Sesko transfer saga has taken a stunning twist as Manchester United and Newcastle United chase the RB Leipzig forward.

Sesko has emerged as Man United and Newcastle’s No.1 centre forward choice, having missed out on their original targets to their domestic rivals.

The Red Devils were in the race to sign Viktor Gyokeres, who ended up joining Arsenal, while the Magpies failed to recruit Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, who were both snapped up by Chelsea.

Man United and Newcastle have since turned their attention to the 22-year-old, who is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe following his performances in the Bundesliga.

Sesko’s name has dominated the transfer rumour mill and a series of new reports has provided a fresh insight into where he could play his football next season.

According to Craig Hope, Newcastle are ‘pushing ahead’ to sign Sesko, who wants to join Eddie Howe’s side.

“Newcastle are tonight pushing ahead to agree a deal with RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko after being given encouragement the striker wants to join,” he wrote in his Daily Mail piece.

Per the report, it is not known what the player’s camp have communicated to Man United and sources have stressed that all outcomes are still possible.

There is a determination to accelerate a deal, especially after the club were told on Monday that he is willing to sign for the St. James’ Park outfit.

Newcastle offered an initial £65.5 million to Leipzig for Sesko, with David Ornstein claiming they have since tabled another bid worth at least £70 million.

Man United have yet to offer a proposal for the Slovenian but Jan Age Fjortoft states Leipzig expect them to do something ‘promptly’.

“Been told that RB Leipzig expect Manchester United to do something ‘promptly’,” he wrote on X.

“As I wrote yesterday: ‘Sesko’s first choice is Manchester United. However, he needs to be convinced that the club can actually get the deal done’.”

Last season, Sesko scored 21 goals in 45 games across all competitions and appears destined to play in the Premier League next season.
