Andy Mitten shares exciting Elliot Anderson to Man Utd transfer update, ‘Well positioned…’

Elliot Anderson is the name on the lips of every Manchester United fan after his dazzling display against the club for Nottingham Forest.

The 2-2 draw might have been frustrating for Ruben Amorim and Man Utd, but for Elliot Anderson, it was an opportunity to impress he took with both hands.

Up against Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, Anderson was the definition of an all-action midfielder, making it so easy to envision his fit at Old Trafford.

Anderson has been linked to Man Utd before, and this performance will only increase the noise around him, and Andy Mitten has now fanned the flames of a potential transfer move.

Elliot Anderson to Man Utd transfer update

It is an open secret that the midfield at Man Utd will be reinforced next summer, even if Casemiro continues to shine as he is right now.

Carlos Baleba was the dream, but his collapse in form and confidence this season is a disclaimer about his mental resilience and works against him.

Anderson, on the other hand, shone when the lights were the brightest in the game against United, separating himself from Baleba’s nightmare game at Old Trafford.

Mitten, speaking on The Talk of the Devils podcast, has now delivered an exciting transfer update on Anderson to United, saying that he’s “well-positioned” to join the club next summer.

Mitten said: “Elliot Anderson is the one who would be well-positioned at the moment for Man Utd. I’m choosing my words extremely carefully.

“I start to go through the team and right, that midfield is going to change in the next few years.”

Anderson paired with a youngster would be a dream window

Anderson will not be cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but he is the kind of player United would poach from Premier League clubs regularly in Sir Alex Ferguson’s heyday.

After signing Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha last summer, Anderson would continue a return to that path which establishes United at the top of the food chain.

Getting both Baleba and Anderson would be a pipe dream, even if the Brighton man is doing his best to lower his own price this season.

Therefore, pairing Anderson with a youngster who will play backup to Bruno Fernandes, eventually taking over from him, would be the dream scenario.

He could be someone like Sekou Kone, who’s returning from injury now, or Cristian Orozco, joining United soon.

It could even be a solution in-house, like Kobbie Mainoo, but United would need to reach a level where they dominate the game with the ball for that to happen.

Either way, Anderson should be the one constant in midfield. Who plays alongside him can be adjusted.

Judging by Mitten’s update, it seems United agree as well.
