Manchester United insiders have been raving about 17-year-old full-back James Overy, according to the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils academy player was called up on three occasions by Man United head coach Ruben Amorim and his staff to join in with first-team training last week.
Overy recently returned to Carrington from the under-20 World Cup with Australia, where he featured in two of their three group games.
He started for the first time for Man United under-21s in their 2-0 victory over Rochdale in the National League Cup group stages last night.
His two appearances for them before Tuesday had been from the bench, but he has been making a huge impression at the Old Trafford club.
The Red Devils believe he has a big future ahead of him, and Amorim having him over to train with the senior team thrice speaks volumes.
Overy signed a scholarship deal when he joined Man United from division 10 club Newton Abbot Spurs in September 2024.
The Red Devils pipped West Ham United and Everton to the services of the right-back but he first caught their attention after impressing in a pre-season friendly for Australian A-League club Perth Glory against West Ham in the summer of 2023.
Overy left the A-League club following his family’s relocation from Australia to England in the same year and was playing non-league football in Devon before moving to Man United.
He is eligible to play for England, Australia and Scotland, and the three countries will continue to keep tabs on his development despite him representing his country of birth at the last under-20 World Cup.
15-year-old winger JJ Gabriel and 17-year-old centre-back Jayden Ngwashi also trained with the Man United senior team last week, and Amorim will continue to give the young players chances as long as they keep impressing and proving themselves.
