Sekou Kone, a summer acquisition by Manchester United, is anticipated to make his debut with the senior team before the end of the current season.
With only three Premier League matches remaining and the Europa League final approaching in 12 days, Ruben Amorim is expected to implement changes, potentially allowing the Malian player to make his first appearance.
Kone has shown promise while playing for the U21 team, demonstrating versatility in both a deeper and more advanced position. Although The Peoples Person reported that the midfielder might be loaned out this summer to a European club, Givemesport presents a differing perspective on the situation.
Kone to be included in first-team squad
Journalist Dean Jones has revealed that figures within the club are very excited with Kone’s potential and Amorim is likely to include him in the first-team squad for next season.
“GMS sources have been told that fellow teenager Sekou Kone will be in the first-team picture at Manchester United heading into next season, thanks to influential figures behind the scenes having a lot of excitement about what he could bring to the midfield if given the opportunity by Amorim.
“Manchester United have been eager to give Kone time to adapt to his surroundings instead of throwing him into the senior squad, despite being highly-rated.
“And GMS sources understand that he is on course to be handed his debut next season as the focus on embedding young talent is continuing.”
United have been patient with him
Manchester United has shown remarkable patience with the 19-year-old, believing he aligns perfectly with Amorim’s midfield vision.
Coaches at Carrington even perceive his skill set to be akin to that of former United star Paul Pogba, with Kone regarded as a more suitable match for Amorim’s system compared to Collyer, who has already accumulated significant playing time under the former Sporting CP manager.
Kone has two goals and one assist for the U21s this season and has been part of the senior matchday squad on three occasions in the Premier League.
United had to stave off competition from Ajax and Barcelona to land the Malian last summer.
