On September 23rd, Mundo Deportivo reported Manchester United and Crystal Palace were keen on signing Atlético Madrid’s Conor Gallagher last summer.
Recent claims from the UK have backed up Manchester United interest. It was said the Red Devils are pursuing a deal for Gallagher in the winter market.
Friday’s edition of AS discusses Manchester United following him and Atlético’s stance.
Amid claims of Manchester United interest, and Gallagher’s possible exit in January, AS state the La Liga club have always expressed their confidence in him. They paid €40m to take the midfielder from Chelsea in 2024, and that’s said to be his market value.
Last season, the England international played 50 matches, managing four goals and six assists. He’s made 12 appearances this season and that includes only four starts.
The report states the 25-year-old is struggling to find a place for himself even when others are injured.
AS claim Gallagher hasn’t performed as Atlético had expected and Simeone is struggling to find a place for him. They further state: ‘The doubts surrounding him aren’t fading. On the contrary, they’re increasing.’
This situation can favour Manchester United, who are said to be lurking, to make a fresh attempt to try and sign him in January.
