Manchester United are struggling for results under Ruben Amorim and unsurprisingly so.
The Portuguese tactician has come in with an idea on the kind of football he wants to play at the club and most of the players in the current squad are not really suited for it.
There are many reinforcements that he needs in the current squad. Amorim played a 3-4-3 system which requires two highly skilled wing-backs to operate from the left and right side. On the left, the coach has an issue.
Neither Luke Shaw nor Tyrell Malacia seem to have the physical ability to pull off the role as things stand.
The former is getting on in age and can hardly stay fit while the latter is just recovering from a long injury and yet to make a lasting impact since his recovery.
We covered a story recently that Man Utd has already made an offer to sign PSG defender Nuno Mendes and that he was valued at around £58million. The Seleccao defender would add a lot of quality to the current squad.
The 22-year-old is a player who would excel playing as a flying wing-back from the left. He loves going forward and has also the ability to defend due to his immense recovery pace.
Now, as per iNews, Nuno Mendes is ready to become the first major Man Utd signing under Ruben Amorim.
One would safely argue that the left wing-back is maybe the first position that Man Utd need to reinforce going forward.
It remains to be seen if Nuno Mendes would be willing to come play a midtable scrap with Man Utd but it would be a quality acquisition for the long term. Let’s wait and see how it goes.
