Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United will face each other in the final of the Europa League.
The Red Devils easily triumphed over Athletic Bilbao, scoring a total of seven goals across both legs. Similarly, Spurs performed well in their matches against Bodo/Glimt, securing a 3-1 victory in the first leg and a 2-0 win in Norway on Thursday night.
Despite their disappointing domestic seasons, both Premier League teams now have an opportunity to achieve European success.
The question remains: which team will emerge victorious? Jamie O’Hara and Jermaine Pennant have shared their opinions on the matter.
Jamie O’Hara and Jermaine Pennant predict the winner of Tottenham vs Manchester United
Both Tottenham and Manchester United are eager to secure victory in the Europa League. Currently, the two clubs find themselves in 16th and 15th positions in the Premier League, which is simply unacceptable. Given their substantial financial investments over the years, they should be performing at a much higher level.
This season has been disastrous for both Spurs and United thus far, but triumphing in the Europa League could significantly alter public perception of them. After observing both teams in action, O’Hara has expressed confidence in Tottenham’s ability to defeat Manchester United in the final in Bilbao later this month.
Conversely, Pennant believes that the Red Devils have transformed into a stronger team and will prevail over Spurs, despite having suffered three defeats to Ange Postecoglou’s squad this season.
O’Hara said on talkSPORT while speaking to a Manchester United fan: “I think we’re going to give you a whupping. We’ve pumped you three times this season, let’s just put it out there. I know it’s a final, it’s different, it’s a final, but we’ve pumped you, three times, destroyed you!”
Pennant said: “In all fairness, I think Man United will topple Spurs. I think United now are a lot better than when Spurs played them.”
Later in the show, O’Hara said: “Yeah (we’ve got their number), but I do worry about Man United in the final. It’s just something about Man United in finals. You know what, though, Ruben Amorim, I thought Man United played brilliantly (vs Athletic Club).
Pennant replied: “That just goes to show you how strong the Premier League is – 15th and 16th beating the top five in their own leagues. But, I think Man United are going to do Spurs. I just can’t see anything else, unfortunately.
O’Hara wasn’t having that and said: “You’re an idiot.”
How Manchester United can stop Tottenham
Tottenham enters the Europa League final as the favored team, having triumphed over Manchester United three times this season. However, Ruben Amorim’s squad has the potential to outmaneuver Spurs.
Tottenham excels when afforded time and space to launch their attacks, consistently pushing forward with numbers and demonstrating the ability to score against any opponent. For Manchester United to secure a victory over Tottenham, they must maintain a compact formation, defend cohesively, and exploit counter-attacking opportunities.
Tottenham’s defense is relatively vulnerable, particularly during transitions. This strategy could prove effective against them; however, if United attempts to engage in a direct offensive battle, they are likely to face significant defeat.
