Tuesday saw another wave of Manchester United players involved in international duty for their nations, with more success stories.
It has been the story of this international break that Manchester United players are shining.
This was no different on Tuesday as Amad scored and assisted for Ivory Coast, sending the reigning AFCON champions to the World Cup next summer.
Elsewhere, there was one United academy standout who was in U21 action, starting his first game for his country at this level, to a great deal of success.
Gabriele Biancheri scores for Wales U21
Wales’ U21 side needed a win this week in their quest to qualify for U21 Euro 2027, after two heavy defeats in the qualifying rounds to begin with.
Wales named Gabriele Biancheri in the starting line-up, and he repaid that faith with his first goal for his country at this level.
It was only last month that Biancheri made his U21 Wales debut, and now he has his first goal, as he looks more and more likely to commit to representing the Dragons ahead of Canada.
The goal was a pure striker’s finish as Biancheri latched onto a loose ball passed back by the Austrian defender toward his goalkeeper.
Biancheri took the ball and rounded the goalkeeper, and finished coolly, impressive from the 19-year-old, showing the traits that got him so many goals for United over the past few seasons.
Shea Lacey makes Sergio Aguero comparison for Gabriele Biancheri
This season, Biancheri has slowly begun refinding his United 2024/25 form, and scoring against Austria for Wales’ U21 team is the latest sign.
It strengthens the argument that he should be handed some senior appearances for the country to secure his future.
After the game, Biancheri was congratulated by his teammates, including Shea Lacey, on Instagram.
Underneath Biancheri’s post, Lacey commented, “Sergio”, which can only be a comparison to the Argentine legend Sergio Aguero.
Biancheri was frequently compared to Aguero as a youngster, and this seems to be continuing, with his sharp interception and finish resembling the manner in which the former Manchester City star played.
