Manchester United defeated 10-man Athletic Club 3-0 last Thursday in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals at the San Mames Stadium in Spain.
Athletic Club were 3-0 down against United going into half-time in Bilbao and the La Liga outfit saw Spain defender Dani Vivian sent off in the first half last week.
Ernesto Valverde’s men faced an uphill task against the Red Devils in the second leg and the remainder of United’s season hinges on their Europa League run.
United languish in 15th place in the Premier League table and the Red Devils will end their 2024-25 season with their worst finish in the Premier League era.
The Red Devils fell to their 16th Premier League defeat last Sunday after Ruben Amorim’s United side lost 4-3 to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium

While a fifth posted: “Mason Mount with a Macheda finish. What a time to be alive.”
Another X user suggested: “Mason Mount’s goal was very reminiscent of Macheda’s goal vs Aston Villa all those years ago.”
