Manchester United player ratings vs Athletic Club
Andre Onana
He should have done a bit better with the strike from Mikel Jauregizar, but he did well to claim crosses and commanded his area well. 6
Victor Lindelof
He was guilty of some poor passes in the early stages that put his side under avoidable pressure. A nervous performance again, and it would be a surprise to see him start the final. 4
Harry Maguire
A costly error for the opening goal of the match. He looked off the pace all night and was not up to his usual standards. He improved in the final stages. 5
Leny Yoro
A gem. The best United player on the night. He kept his cool amid the hostile environment and made some important blocks in his box. Also offered an attacking threat and grabbed a brilliant assist. 8
Noussair Mazraoui
He picked up a harsh yellow card but was otherwise a steady performer again, even when used out of position. He read the game very well. 6
Manuel Ugarte
He was sloppy on the ball and added to United’s lack of control in central midfield. A very poor midfield performance. No complaints when he was eventually replaced. 4
Casemiro
He broke up play well and linked defence and attack several times, but was way off the standard he had set in previous European ties. Redeemed his performance with another Europa League goal. 7
Patrick Dorgu
He had plenty of room on the left wing but was guilty of poor delivery into the box on several occasions. He always looked to get involved. 6
Alejandro Garnacho
The bright spark in the United attack again, but he lacked the end product that had alluded him for much of the year. Another reminder of how raw a talent he is. 5
Bruno Fernandes
An unusually quiet performance from him. He didn’t have as much influence as usual but still ended the night with an assist. 6
Rasmus Hojlund
A combative performance. He worked hard throughout the match and was an improvement with his physicality. A poacher’s finish at the end. 7
How the Manchester United substitutes rated
Luke Shaw
An improvement at wing-back and made a key contribution to the equalising goal. He always made himself available for a pass on the left. 6
Mason Mount
He helped swing the match in United’s favour with an excellent contribution from the bench. Energy, enterprise, and two excellent goals. The gamechanger. 9
Amad Diallo
He immediately injected life into the United side from the bench and gave them an extra dimension in attack. A constant threat on the ball and a mesmerising assist. 8
Harry Amass
A bright cameo performance at left wing-back and he nearly added another goal when he darted into the box.
Kobbie Mainoo
He gave United the calmness and composure they had lacked for much of the night in midfield. 6
