Grimsby edge out youthful Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday made significant changes to their squad for the cup competition, featuring eight academy players in their starting lineup. Sheffield Wednesday have got off to a nightmare start to their 2025-26 Championship campaign, collecting just one point from their opening five games. Their only win of the new season came against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup second round as they beat the Premier League outfit on penalties.
Palace also progress but Villa sent packing

During Villa’s encounter, Jadon Sancho, who has struggled at Manchester United, finally made his debut for the club, appearing in the starting lineup alongside Harvey Elliott.
When will Grimsby play next?
Grimsby will return to action this Saturday as they take on Barnet in a League Two clash away from home. They will learn their opponents in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup when the draw is made on Wednesday night.
