Struggling Man United star addresses fans directly after derby loss with promising pledge on social media

Amad Diallo has taken to Instagram to acknowledge Manchester United’s (and his) lacklustre form.

Precisely one year after the supporters at Old Trafford were urging Erik ten Hag to provide Amad with a starting position, the Ivorian dynamo has finally received that opportunity under Ruben Amorim.

He had to be patient for his opportunities, but once they arrived, Amad enjoyed a career-best season; in the 43 matches he participated in across all competitions, he achieved 11 goals and 10 assists.

Of those, eight goals and eight assists were recorded in the Premier League alone, establishing him as one of Amorim’s most reliable players by the end of the 2024/2025 season.

Amad endures a troubled start to the new term

However, Amad, similar to the other members of the squad, has faced challenges in finding his rhythm during the 2025/2026 season.

So far, United has managed to score only one goal from open play in six hours of gameplay, with the 23-year-old struggling to leave a significant impact as he had anticipated at the start of the season.

Amad has participated in three out of four Premier League matches, playing the entire 90 minutes in the victory against Burnley, where he provided an assist, and in the 3-0 loss to City, where he was assigned a more offensive position due to the absence of Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount.

He achieved a total of 52 touches and maintained a passing accuracy of 92 percent, successfully completing 35 out of 38 attempted passes. Additionally, Amad made two key passes and created one significant opportunity (according to Sofascore).

Amad’s message to the United faithful

Post-match, he took to Instagram with a snap of him attempting an overhead shot and captioned the post: “It’s temporary”.

It remains to be seen whether he’s referring to his personal run of form or United’s as a whole. Either way, fans will be hoping both turn around substantially in the coming weeks.
