Manchester United possesses a promising young talent within their academy, and numerous insiders are convinced that he is on the path to becoming a future superstar.

Shea Lacey stands out as one of the most thrilling prospects at the youth level, drawing closer to the transition into senior football.

In their opening match of the National League Cup, United’s Under-21s suffered a 2-1 defeat against Brackley Town yesterday.

Lacey was not included in the matchday squad, leading fans to worry that the 18-year-old had sustained yet another injury setback.

Journalist Nathan Salt swiftly alleviated those concerns with an update on X.

He confirmed that Lacey is not injured and there is growing optimism regarding his proximity to the first team.

The wonderkid, born in 2007, typically shines on the right wing but also possesses the creativity to excel as a number ten.

His technical skill and footballing intelligence have even led to comparisons with Manchester City star Phil Foden.

Many believe that Lacey is exceptionally gifted and might have already made his first-team debut if not for the injury challenges he has encountered over the past couple of years.

He has already participated in training sessions with senior squad members, most recently last Friday alongside fellow academy talents such as Tyler Fletcher, Jack Fletcher, and Jim Thwaites.

The 18-year-old signed his first professional contract with United in April 2024.

His dribbling skills are his most remarkable quality, complemented by a magical left foot.

Lacey made his Under-21 debut last month under head coach Travis Binnion.

If he can strengthen his slender physique and adjust to the physical demands of senior football, manager Ruben Amorim may soon grant him his long-anticipated debut.
