Manchester United has reportedly come to an agreement with Turkish club Eyüpspor regarding the transfer of former Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia.
The club is anticipated to loan out the Netherlands defender, who has struggled to secure a position in the starting lineup and has also faced injury challenges. The 26-year-old joined the team from Feyenoord in a deal valued at approximately £13 million, excluding add-ons.
Since his arrival at United in 2022, Malacia has made only 47 appearances, with most occurring during his initial season under Erik ten Hag. Last season, he featured in just four matches before spending the latter half of the season on loan at PSV in the Eredivisie.
Upon his return from that loan, Malacia was among five players instructed to train separately from the first-team squad, alongside England forward Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Jadon Sancho, all of whom secured transfers away from the club before the English transfer deadline on September 1.
The defender was rumored to be making a deadline day move to La Liga club Elche; however, the transfer did not materialize in time, with reports indicating that a deal collapsed due to a permanent clause in the contract.
Although the transfer window has closed in the Premier League, clubs in the Super Lig can still make signings, as the window in Turkey remains open until September 12.
Reşat Can Özbudak, a journalist at YS TV, shared on X (formerly Twitter): “Eyüpspor has reached an agreement with Manchester United for the loan transfer of Tyrell Malacia. The decision is awaited.”
While United awaits a final decision, one player who is poised to finalize his move to the Super Lig is Andre Onana. The Cameroonian goalkeeper has consented to join Trabzonspor on a season-long loan after failing to make a significant impact under Amorim.
