“I don’t know where his ceiling is”: Rio Ferdinand cannot stop raving about United wonderkid, tips him to become a world-beater

Leny Yoro was a shining light for Ruben Amorim’s team in the midst of Manchester United’s challenging 2024–25 season.

The Frenchman was a revelation, playing brilliantly on the left when Lisandro Martinez wasn’t there and dominating in his preferred right center-back position in a back three.

It is simple to overlook that he is only 19 years old. This season, the former Lille player has also been a consistent presence in the Premier League.

Rio Ferdinand has now showered the France U21 international with accolades, asserting that he has all the resources necessary to succeed.

Yoro, the superstar-in-the-making

The United legend told Andy Mitten on the United We Stand YouTube channel that even he does not know how high the ceiling is for Yoro.

However, like all youngsters, the centre-half will also not be immune from making the occasional mistake, so he urged for patience from the fans.

“I love him. I don’t know where is ceiling is, but he could be anything. He just needs the pieces around him as well to help him as a young kid.

“But I think he has the nucleus of all the right traits to be a top centre half and he will be because he wants to be as well.

Rio is a fan

“He’s a hard worker and he’s diligent, but he needs time as well.”

The fact that INEOS defeated Real Madrid in their attempt to sign the French sensation last summer will please United supporters. There’s no doubt that he has more to offer.

Following the international break, United will play their first Premier League match on Sunday against Manchester City.

If Amorim is to defeat Pep Guardiola, Yoro, who is presently playing for the France U21 team, will be asked to take the lead.
