“New midfielder is expected to join in January”: Fabrizio Romano drops transfer bombshell that will delight United fans

After the events of the previous season, Manchester United needed to improve in a number of areas, including midfield.

Ruben Amorim decided that Carlos Baleba of Brighton & Hove Albion would be the ideal addition to the engine room. The Seagulls were also valued very highly.

A move for the Cameroonian was impossible, though, as INEOS chose to focus entirely on enhancing the attack.

After that, the Red Devils frantically tried to sign a late substitute, but their attempts to sign Conor Gallagher, Romeo Lavia, and Angelo Stiller failed.

Midfielder hunt

The 20-time English league champions are reportedly preparing a British transfer record bid to acquire the Brighton midfielder, and a deal may be finalized as early as January, according to the Peoples Person.

By asserting that the Old Trafford team will undoubtedly buy a midfield player in the winter, Fabrizio Romano has now given these rumors more weight.

He does, however, clarify that even while Baleba is still the first priority, a market opportunity like Gallagher might be considered as a stand-in.

“A new midfielder will join Manchester United in 2026 January,” the Italian said on his YouTube channel.

New recruit in January

“It remains to be seen if it’s a top player like Baleba as the deal will be difficult or a opportunity on the market, like Conor Gallagher.”

This season, the team’s performances have made it very evident that the park’s center has a void that needs to be filled.

Manuel Ugarte has been struggling since his arrival last summer, and Casemiro is too old to play 90 minutes. Additionally, Amorim appears to view Kobbie Mainoo more as a No. 8 and lacks confidence in him in that defensive midfield position.

If INEOS can pull off a stunning performance during the winter window, fans will be overjoyed. The future of Amorim rests on it.
