Danish media react to goalscoring Rasmus Hojlund display vs Greece, ‘lightning-fast’ spark spotted

Manchester United waved goodbye to Rasmus Hojlund on deadline day after agreeing a loan deal with Napoli.

Rasmus Hojlund was forced down the Manchester United hierarchy and eventually rendered surplus to requirements by the £66 million acquisition of Benjamin Sesko this summer.

Hojlund joined Napoli on loan on deadline day after being completely left out of United’s matchday squads at the beginning of the season.

Hojlund was forced out of United during the summer, despite his desire to remain and challenge Sesko for a starting position. If Napoli makes it to the Champions League this season, they will have to purchase Hojlund.

However, the 22-year-old spent the break with the Danish national team before starting in Naples.

Rasmus Hojlund scores in 3-0 Denmark win vs Greece

Brian Riemer, the coach of Denmark, lauded Hojlund’s move to Napoli earlier this week and hinted that it would be beneficial for his future.

In their most recent World Cup qualifying match, Denmark defeated Greece 3-0, although the United loanee was not included in the starting eleven.

Shortly after the hour, Hojlund and Patrick Dorgu, a teammate of United, came off the bench.

Denmark’s third goal of the match was scored by Dorgu and Hojlund just 17 minutes after they entered the game. Hojlund was in a good position for Dorgu’s ball to enter the box, and he put his name on the scoresheet.

Although Hojlund’s summer departure from United surprised Dorgu, the two continue to play well together on the international front.

Danish media react to Rasmus Hojlund’s performance

Hojlund was able to make a positive impact on the scoreline during his short cameo, and he received plenty of praise from his national media.

Danish outlet Tipsbladet decided Hojlund didn’t have enough time on the pitch for a grade, but they did add: “Scored his second international goal this year when he sought out the opportunity and was in the right place at the right time. It is important for Riemer and Denmark to get him going.”

DR gave Hojlund a 7 rating and wrote: “Great goal by Hojlund on a riposte from the post and lots of good work. Looks promising for the future once he gets going in Napoli.”

Finally, Campo pointed out the “lightning fast” speed by Dorgu in the build up to the goal.

“Greece brought too many people forward, and that leaves big holes in the backcourt, which the lightning-fast Patrick Dorgu exploits. The Greek goalkeeper gets far out before Dorgu dribbles him and finishes towards the box. The attempt goes just wide of the post, but falls perfectly to Rasmus Hojlund, who can easily tap the ball in for 0-3.”
