Matheus Cunha drops four-word Man United injury update amid Man City wait

A week before the season’s first Manchester derby, Manchester United player Matheus Cunha gave an encouraging social media update on his injury return.

Prior to the international break, Cunha was substituted out of United’s Premier League victory over Burnley in the first half. The Brazilian is thought to have suffered a hamstring injury.

After the 3-2 triumph, the 26-year-old was seen walking freely out of Old Trafford, but he later pulled out of the Brazil squad for this month’s World Cup qualifying matches.

“It was hard to lose Cunha and Mason Mount, because Mason Mount played 30 minutes with an injury,” Amorim said. “I’m concerned about that, because they are so important for us. We will see.”

He added: “I don’t know [how are they], I don’t know. We will check them. We need those guys really bad to be really competitive.”

Cunha stated on social media that he will be “back soon” because the event occurred against the Clarets. On his Instagram story, the former Wolves star has now shared another update.

He posted a picture of himself riding a gym bike with the caption, “The time is flying,” and included dynamite and clock emojis.

Cunha subsequently posted a picture of himself with a UFC bracelet and was captioned, “obrigado pela moral,” which means “thanks for the moral.”

His availability for the Manchester derby against Manchester City next week is still unknown.
