Delightful news for Man Utd as ‘unplayable’ midfielder overcomes scary injury

Manchester United have received good news from the training ground, with Sekou Kone recovering from the horrific injury scare he suffered last month.

Despite not having played for the first team yet, the 19-year-old is regarded as one of the team’s most promising young players. The Malian completed his transfer from Guidars FC to MUFC in 2024.

Since coming to Carrington, the young man has unfortunately struggled with injuries. Sekou’s development was halted in November when he suffered an ankle injury during his debut with Man United U21. After overcoming the problem, he started to regularly appear in Ruben Amorim’s senior squad training sessions the previous season.

Sekou Kone has been unlucky with injuries since joining Man United

The defensive midfielder had a poor start to the season for the second consecutive year. This time, Kone was carried off the field on a stretcher after suffering a frightening head injury after a collision with an opponent that resulted in an eye socket fracture.

This incident happened in mid-August during a U21 National League Cup match versus Tamworth. After the Manchester United kid was taken to the hospital, there was no other ambulance on the scene, so the game had to be postponed.

Kone has returned to grass training

Fortunately for Kone, he has recovered from this injury rather quickly. Man Utd insider Sully reports in his most recent Centre Devils post that the young player has resumed grass training, though he is still working alone.

According to the source, the “unplayable” midfielder was previously connected to a loan move to Lausanne-Sport, a first-tier Swiss team that is also affiliated with INEOS. However, Amorim and his staff were pleased with the player’s preseason performance and requested that the management keep him at Carrington.

As a result, Kone is anticipated to make his first-team debut this season, albeit there won’t be many possibilities because United doesn’t play midweek games.
