Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is once again at the centre of transfer speculation, with Saudi Arabian giants Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr both monitoring his situation closely.
The England international might be the next Premier League player lured by a lucrative move to the Middle East, as his future at Old Trafford is still up in the air.
In recent years, the Saudi League has acquired several well-known players from the Premier League. Ivan Toney, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, and N’Golo Kante are among the players who have moved to the Middle East.
Saudi clubs preparing formal approach for Man United star
According to people close to the agencies industry, CaughtOffside has learned that both Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr are considering an offer for Maguire that is around €15 million.
Even though that amount is low by Premier League standards, it might be sufficient to convince United to let go of a player whose starting opportunities have fluctuated in recent years.
By acquiring players like Alex Telles and Cristiano Ronaldo, Al-Nassr, a Riyadh-based team, has already shown their ambition on the international scene. As they seek to bolster their team with experienced foreign talent, adding Maguire to their defensive line would be another bold move.
Al-Ahli’s interest is linked to Demiral
In the meanwhile, if Merih Demiral leaves the team, Al-Ahli might step up their efforts to sign Maguire.
Super Lig clubs have expressed interest in the Turkish center-back, and his departure would create a hole in the defense’s core.
In such scenario, Al-Ahli would probably act fast to put United’s determination to the test by making an official approach for Maguire.
Despite criticism and stints on the bench, Maguire is still a very skilled defender with leadership abilities. Given that United is already dealing with backline ailments, his possible departure could create a hole in defensive depth.
Erik ten Hag, the former manager of United, has previously hailed Maguire as a “great leader.”
