Manchester United have put three players up for sale and are looking to move on one of Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir in the coming weeks.
Even though the English transfer market ended on Monday night, teams trying to get rid of players still have a few options.
For instance, the Turkish transfer window is open for one additional week, but the Saudi Arabian transfer window is open until September 23.
Due to Manchester United’s last-minute acquisition of Senne Lammens, Ruben Amorim’s club now has an unsubstantial four first-team goalkeepers.
Despite being United’s number one player the previous season, Onana didn’t do much to earn the position for one of the greatest teams in the world.
Despite starting in goal for Manchester United’s first three Premier League games of the season, Altay Bayindir did not impress, making a major mistake in the team’s loss to Arsenal and seeming unsteady overall.
The 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Lammens, who United paid £18 million to acquire from Royal Antwerp, is not anticipated to start for Amorim right away.
According to the Daily Mirror, Lammens will therefore probably be Bayindir’s or Onana’s backup this season, with the other player being moved on.
Manchester United also has Tom Heaton on their roster in addition to Onana, Bayindir, and Lammens.
When the African Cup of Nations begins in December, Onana will be gone from Old Trafford for a long time, but four goalkeepers is still too many.
As a result, the Red Devils will attempt to sell either Bayindir or Onana to Saudi Arabia or Turkey, with the former showing interest already.
Trabzonspor has reportedly made a loan offer for Onana, who cost Manchester United £47 million in 2023, according to Turkish publication Takvim.
Stefan Ortega of Manchester City has also drawn interest from Trabzonspor, who are searching for a replacement for Ugurcan Cakir, whom they traded to Galatasaray last week.
Although United is open to bids for Onana, it is unclear if they will reach an agreement with Trabzonspor, and it is also unclear how the 29-year-old feels about the transfer.
Manchester United is still looking into ways to get rid of Tyrell Malacia, who was a member of Amorim’s bomb squad at Old Trafford, in addition to unloading a first-team goalie.
Malacia, who was recruited by former United manager Erik ten Hag, nearly went on loan to Elche of Spain last week, but the deal fell through.
Earlier in the summer, Amorim maintained that any players who weren’t sold would be able to rejoin his first team, but according to ESPN, Malacia is on the team’s transfer list.
Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Antony, the other members of Amorim’s explosives squad, all managed to relocate away from the Theatre of Dreams.
Sancho moved on loan to Aston Villa, Antony was sold to Real Betis, Rashford completed his ideal loan move to Barcelona, and Garnacho paid £40 million to join Chelsea.
After the international break, Manchester United will play Manchester City. They now have four points from three Premier League games.
