Frontrunners: Man Utd now preparing £50m+ bid to sign “unbelievable” star, he’s keen on the move

Manchester United are now preparing a £50m+ bid for an “unbelievable” star, who is keen on a move to Old Trafford, and they are frontrunners in the race for his signature.

Man Utd’s midfield called into question by Scholes

After a very disappointing start to the new campaign, Man United legend Paul Scholes has questioned the decision to deploy Bruno Fernandes in an unfavoured position, saying: “There’s too much indecision in the midfield area, you think of Casemiro. He’s been a brilliant player, but we know his deficiencies, don’t we?”

“Fernandes [and Casemiro], they’re the two he’s [Amorim] going with, and Fernandes for me, he’s someone who fills in as a midfielder, he might get away with it for one, two or three games. He’s not got the discipline to be a central midfield player.”

There is a sense that Fernandes, 30, is being forced into the starting lineup because he has been one of United’s top players for a long time and contributed 19 Premier League goals last season.

Even if they managed to defeat Burnley 3-2, Ruben Amorim’s style of play is obviously failing, and the 40-year-old may need to add a center midfielder who is more compatible with his system in January.

Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace is keen to come to Old Trafford in order to take on a new challenge at a top club, and Man United is reportedly considering a bid of at least £50 million for him.

After expressing interest in the summer, Wharton has been identified by United as a top target for the January transfer window. However, Oliver Glasner prevented an exit since Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze were both drawing a lot of interest.

Although the 21-year-old has been named as Casemiro’s long-term replacement, Chelsea and the Red Devils are reportedly the front-runners for his services.

“Unbelievable” Wharton could be ideal signing for Amorim

The Palace star, who excelled under Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 system, is the ideal midfield player for Man United to acquire in order to fit Amorim’s style of play.

According to former WhoScored contributor Ben McAleer, Guehi has been especially pleased by his teammate’s skill in possession, saying the Englishman was “unbelievable” on the ball last season. However, that is by no means his sole talent.

Wharton’s ability to regain possession makes him a potential long-term successor to Casemiro, but considering the caliber of some of his recent performances, the Brazilian might still have a lot to offer.
