REPORT: “Lightning-Fast” Diego Leon to Join Manchester United in June
Manchester United are set to welcome Paraguayan starlet Diego Leon to Old Trafford this summer, with the highly rated Cerro Porteño defender expected to land in the UK in the second week of June, according to journalist Uriel Iugt.
The 18-year-old left-back, renowned for his pace and athleticism, reportedly completed his medical earlier this year, with the formalities of the deal now close to completion. Leon is scheduled to make the move after the conclusion of the Paraguayan league season.
United are believed to be paying a $4 million (£3.1m) base fee, with a potential $1 million (£800k) in performance-related add-ons. The deal marks what could be manager Ruben Amorim’s first official signing as he reshapes the squad for the 2025/26 campaign.
Leon is viewed as a long-term prospect but may have opportunities to impress in pre-season, depending on Amorim’s squad plans and the status of United’s current full-back options.
