Man United set for rapid Carlos Baleba meeting after ‘personal terms agreement’

Only a few weeks after the Reds inquired about the Brighton & Hove Albion star’s services, Manchester United will meet Carlos Baleba later this month.

Shortly after completing the signing of Benjamin Sesko, United expressed interest in acquiring the defensive midfield player during the summer transfer window.

Baleba was not for sale, as Brighton quickly told Ruben Amorim’s team, and shortly after, United told their Premier League rivals they would not make a move. However, it is anticipated that their interest will be rekindled in the future.

After the transfer window ended, The Athletic said that United and Baleba had reached a personal agreement over a move to Old Trafford. However, they are alleged to have been turned off by Brighton’s estimate of at least £115 million.

Before Monday’s deadline, United ultimately made the decision to bring in goalkeeper Senne Lammens rather than recruit a new midfield player. Baleba has stayed incredibly professional and started all three of Brighton’s league games despite rumors about his future.

The midfielder is presently traveling with Cameroon to play Cape Verde and Eswatini in their World Cup qualifying doubleheader. The 21-year-old will rejoin the Brighton team for a hectic September after arriving in England.

Before the next international break, Fabian Hurzeler’s team plays Barnsley in the Carabao Cup and Bournemouth, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Wolves in the league. On October 25, United will host Baleba at Old Trafford following the October break in domestic football.

The game will see Amorim watch Baleba in action for the first time this season and comes after a tough trip to rivals Liverpool the week previous.

Baleba will have another chance to show United and Amorim what he can do on the final day of the season in May when the reverse fixture takes place.
