United agree deal to sign prolific star in a “sensational” move in January, club willing to sell – report

In the last few days of the summer transfer window, Manchester United attempted to bolster their offense with extra firepower.

Over the summer, United considered a number of strikers before acquiring Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for an estimated €85 million.

The Peoples Person reported early today that United, having lost out on Liam Delap to Chelsea, contemplated making an approach for Danny Welbeck, a striker for Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Englishman, who left Old Trafford for Arsenal after 16 years, is respected at United for his technical skill and experience. With ten goals last season, he was Brighton’s co-leading Premier League scorer.

Welbeck open to joining Man United in January

Welbeck and United reached a personal terms agreement on Deadline Day, according to FootballTransfers.

Unfortunately, Brighton didn’t have time to locate a successor, thus the agreement fell through.

An agreement with the 34-year-old forward has reportedly already been finalized “ahead of a possible January deal,” meaning that a “deal could take place” during the January transfer window.

The Seagulls are prepared to sell since their talisman’s contract expires next summer, and the former United player is apparently “open to completing a sensational return” to Old Trafford.

Since Welbeck is thought to be a cheap center forward alternative, it is believed that Jason Wilcox, United’s director of football, is the “driving force” behind the pursuit.

Sesko is immensely talented, but he is still relatively inexperienced. As such, signing another striker to share the goalscoring responsibility would be good for the Slovenian’s development.

Man United convinced Baleba to move to Old Trafford this summer

According to reports, Welbeck’s name was initially brought up when United and Brighton were discussing a potential trade for midfielder Carlos Baleba.

The Athletic claims that after speaking with Andre Onana, Bryan Mbeumo, and Leny Yoro, United reached a personal agreement with Baleba, who was eager to join the Red Devils.

Amorim lobbied for Baleba’s signing internally because he wanted to bolster his team. But the club’s leadership was unable to “justify the price.”
