How much Man Utd will have to pay Ruben Amorim if they sack him after Europa League final

The shocking amount that Manchester United will have to pay if they sack Ruben Amorim after the Europa League final has been revealed.

In the upcoming week, United will face Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial Europa League final at San Mames stadium in Bilbao, a match they must win. The stakes are exceptionally high for both United’s manager Amorim and Spurs’ boss Ange Postecoglu, as failure to secure a victory could jeopardize their positions.

Should United choose to dismiss Amorim following the final, they would incur a significant financial obligation to the Portuguese manager. Historically, United has demonstrated a willingness to terminate managerial contracts prematurely if performance does not meet the club’s expectations.

Last year, the club paid £14.5 million to release former manager Erik ten Hag, who had just signed a one-year extension three months prior, along with compensations for his coaching staff and sporting director Dan Ashworth.

Reports from the Daily Mail indicate that Amorim, who took over from Ten Hag in November, signed a two-and-a-half-year contract valued at £6.5 million annually. Consequently, if United were to part ways with him after the Europa League final, they would be liable for approximately £13.5 million to cover the remainder of his salary.

Should this scenario occur, United’s total expenditure on terminating managers would reach an astonishing £88.7 million, which includes the reported £15 million disbursed to former interim manager Ralf Rangnick following the cancellation of his consultancy role.

United’s most expensive termination was the dismissal of Jose Mourinho in December 2018, justified by the assertion that there had been no advancement in either results or playing style, despite his investment of nearly £400 million on 11 players.

Mourinho received £19.6 million in severance upon his departure from United, and it is reported that the Portuguese manager has earned approximately £80 million from being dismissed by various clubs throughout his career.
