Manchester United is monitoring the status of Nottingham Forest’s attacking midfielder Callum Hudson-Odoi in anticipation of the upcoming summer transfer window, as reported by Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth. The 24-year-old English forward’s contract with the City Ground club expires next summer, which has drawn the attention of the Red Devils and other potential clubs.
AS Roma and Napoli are also interested in acquiring Hudson-Odoi for Serie A, although Forest is currently negotiating a contract extension with him. The former Chelsea player operated as a wing-back under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, and although he has primarily played as a winger since then, Manchester United’s head coach Ruben Amorim may consider utilizing him as a wing-back again if he secures his signing.
Hudson-Odoi has recorded five goals and three assists in 29 league appearances for Forest this season, following a performance of eight goals and two assists in 29 league matches last season, making him a valuable addition to the Red Devils’ attack.
The three-time England international could be available for a reasonable fee if he opts to transfer this summer, having cost his current club less than £5 million, and Manchester United could benefit from a strategic and high-quality acquisition given their financial situation.
It is anticipated that the attacking trio of Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho will be sold this summer, necessitating the acquisition of at least one player who can effectively integrate into the system and style favored by the Portuguese manager.
Hudson-Odoi may see an opportunity to make an impression at Old Trafford, and the prospect of joining a prominent club is likely to attract him as he aims for a return to the England national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The availability of regular playing time and participation in the Champions League could also play a significant role in his decision-making process, and securing the Europa League title would enhance the Red Devils’ chances of acquiring him should they pursue a formal offer in the upcoming months.
