Ryan Giggs has told Marcus Rashford he is still capable of ‘playing for any team’ in the world after naming him among four players who have ‘no way back’ at Manchester United this summer.
At the conclusion of the previous year, Rashford was sidelined from the first team by Ruben Amorim and subsequently joined Aston Villa on loan during the January transfer window.
Under the management of Unai Emery at Villa Park, the England international has displayed glimpses of his former prowess, netting four goals and providing six assists in 21 matches. Unfortunately, a hamstring injury seems to have curtailed his season prematurely; however, Emery is reportedly interested in acquiring the forward on a permanent basis this summer.
The loan agreement that facilitated Rashford’s move to the Midlands includes a £40 million buy option. Although a return to Old Trafford appears unlikely at this moment, Rashford prefers to join Barcelona this summer instead of remaining at Villa.
The 27-year-old is willing to accept a salary reduction to realize his aspiration of moving to Camp Nou, with Barcelona also eager to facilitate this transfer. Manchester United aims to generate funds through player sales this summer, targeting Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia—currently on loan at Chelsea, Real Betis, and PSV Eindhoven, respectively—as potential departures.
United legend Ryan Giggs recently appeared on the Webby & O’Neill show to discuss the club’s summer transfer strategy, identifying Rashford as one of four players likely to be sold.
