The Magnifico Record: Bruno Fernandes Voted Premier League Player of the Week for a Historic 5th Time
The “Portuguese Magnifico” has officially outdone himself. Following Manchester United’s pivotal 3-1 victory over Aston Villa, the Premier League has confirmed that Bruno Fernandes has been voted the Player of the Matchweek for MW30, and the victory was nothing short of a landslide.
In a display that has solidified his status as the frontrunner for Player of the Season, Fernandes captured the imagination of fans worldwide, breaking a significant voting record in the process.
The “Landslide” by the Numbers
While the award is often a close-run thing, this week was a “one-man show” in the polls:
Total Votes: 38,784 (A new record for any player in a single week this season).
Vote Percentage: 53% of the total fan vote.
The Competition: He comfortably beat out Arsenal’s 16-year-old record-breaker Max Dowman (37%) and West Ham’s defensive hero Konstantinos Mavropanos (5%).
Five-Star Bruno: A League of His Own
With this win, Fernandes becomes the first player in the 2025/26 season to win the Player of the Matchweek award five times. To put his consistency into perspective, his closest rivals including teammate Patrick Dorgu and Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo have only won it twice.
The “Record-Breaker” Game
The award follows a masterclass at Old Trafford where Bruno didn’t just lead the team he rewrote the history books. By providing the assists for both Casemiro and Matheus Cunha, he reached 16 Premier League assists for the season.
In doing so, he officially surpassed David Beckham’s long-standing club record (15) for the most assists in a single Premier League campaign. With eight games left to play, the captain is now only four assists away from matching the all-time Premier League record of 20, held jointly by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
