FIFA INTERVENTION? The Truth Behind the “3 Points Awarded” to Man Utd!
Is it finally justice, or just a social media storm?

Manchester United fans have woken up to sensational claims that FIFA has stepped in to overturn a controversial refereeing decision, awarding the Red Devils three points and catapulting them to 2nd place in the Premier League.

The rumors follow the fallout from the 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth on March 20th, where United were denied a blatant penalty for a foul on Amad Diallo only for Harry Maguire to be sent off for a similar challenge minutes later.

The “Referee Apology” Heard ‘Round the World

Social media has been flooded with reports that referee Stuart Attwell has “begged for forgiveness” and that an official FIFA judgment has been released this morning.

The Rumor: FIFA has overruled the PGMOL, awarded United a 3-0 win by default, and moved them above Manchester City into 2nd place.
The Reality: While United did formally contact the PGMOL for an explanation, and PGMOL chief Howard Webb reportedly admitted an “error in consistency,” there is no official mechanism for FIFA or the Premier League to award points after a match has concluded.

Where Manchester United ACTUALLY Stand (March 28, 2026)

Despite the “3 points” hoax, the “Carrick Revolution” is very much alive. United didn’t need a FIFA intervention to be in a fantastic position.

Here is the Official Premier League Table as of tonight:

Pos Team Pld GD Pts

1 Arsenal 31 +39 70
2 Manchester City 30 +32 61
3 Manchester United 31 +13 55
4 Aston Villa 31 +5 54
United remain in 3rd place, holding off a massive charge from Aston Villa. While they aren’t 2nd yet, they are firmly in control of their Champions League destiny.

Michael Carrick’s Stance: “Too Late for Apologies”

Interim boss Michael Carrick didn’t hold back in his post-match briefing regarding the refereeing standards:

“We’ve had some ‘positive’ updates and admissions of error, but it’s too late for apologies. The match is over and the points were dropped on the pitch. We move forward and focus on Leeds.”

Carrick is clearly ignoring the noise and focusing on the massive clash against Leeds United at Old Trafford on April 13th.
